JAPANESE SAGO PALM

£35

[Cycas Revoluta] Seriously, how cool do I look. Another candidate for the deceptive names file though, as the Japanese Sago Palm [Cycas Revoluta] is not actually a true palm but a member of the Cylcids family; but with its feather like fronds and classic palm characteristics, who's to know. We love it!

Seriously, how cool do I look. Another candidate for the deceptive names file though, as the Japanese Sago Palm [Cycas Revoluta] is not actually a true palm but a member of the Cylcids family. Whatever, this architectural houseplant, with its feather like fronds, has classic palm characteristics and we love it! Not quite a beginner plant, you'll need to provide plenty of bright light, above average humidity levels and of course never over-water. Enjoy!

Origin
Native to southern Japan including the Ryukyu Islands
Positioning + Light Needs
A lot of bright, natural light avoiding too much direct sun is perfect.
Watering
From Spring to Autumn water modestly to keep top soil moist; in Winter water less so but keep an eye on top soil moisture with your heating on! Rotate me 90º when you do so all of me gets the best light, otherwise my shape may start to become uneven.
Misting
Mist me every week or so during the Summer please, I enjoy a
verage to above average humidity levels and don't like too dry an atmosphere. Keep up in the Winter months when the heating kicks in also.
Feeding
Slow growing, so feed me once a month every Spring and Summer with diluted liquid fertiliser.
Re-potting
Once every 3 years should be fine. Like I said, I'm a slow grower.
Child / Pet Friendly
No, all parts toxic.
Look out for
Older leaves will appear yellow as they make way and drop off for new growth; however, it can also be a sign of magnesium deficiency. The fronds are delicate and slow to grow, so handle with care to avoid damage.

Our size guide applies to both plants and planters.
The diameter range for each is based on the following:
