The foliage of these plants is dramatic and tough. The fruit itself will eventually fall off and no you can't eat it without pulling your very best yuk! face; its very much an ornamental feature of the plant so enjoy visually!

Origin
Native to South America
between Brazil and Paraguay.
Positioning + Light Needs
Pineapples love bright, direct sunlight and will do best in a south-facing location in your home.
Watering
They do not need a lot of water, so wait until the soil has dried out before watering, and then water both leaves and soil. They are more likely to be badly affected by over watering than under watering.
Misting
Mist every couple of days or so, ideally with lukewarm water. I like above average humidity and warmth.
Feedi
ng
Feed every 8 weeks during Spring / Summer.
Choose a liquid fertiliser in which all the nutrient numbers are the same, for example, 5-5-5 or 10-10-10.
Re-potting
Move to a pot 1 size larger only when necessary.
Child / Pet Friendly
No sorry.
Look out for
Brown leaf tips: often caused by dry air.
