AKA Banjo fig, Fiddle Leaf Fig, this West African native has gone from the rare and unusual category to classic houseplant in a such short space of time, and no wonder. Its a stunner in whichever form it comes, giving real presence to your space with its attractive semi-lobed and oval shaped leaves. In tree form, you're getting an eye-catching ornamental work of natural art. If you've got the space, we can't recommend highly enough.
Origin
Native to West Africa.
Positioning + Light Needs
A brightly lit spot in an airy room is needed though try to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight; can take a little shade too as long as the room is bright enough overall.
Watering
Water when the top soil becomes slightly dry and reduce watering in the Winter. The worst thing you can do is over water your Fiddle leaf, so be conservative.
Misting
Every fortnight misting will be appreciated. A little more often during the Winter months when the central heating comes on.
Feeding
Feed me once a month every Spring and Summer with diluted liquid fertiliser.
Re-potting
When the plant is young and growing, re-pot it every Spring. Once it matures you'll only need to replace the top soil each year.
Child / Pet Friendly
No sorry, I'm a little toxic.
Air Purifying
That's me! I'm very effective at removing airborne toxins.
Look out for
Brown edges on leaves: could be lack of humidity, exposure to a cold draught or under-watering. Brown soft leaves suggest too cold a room or too much watering.
N.B. Leaf drop: very usual when arriving in a new home. Some of the lower leaves will naturally drop also when the plant is seeing new growth.
Our size guide applies to both plants and planters.
The diameter range for each is based on the following:
Plants: the total nursery pot diameter (exterior measurement)
Planters: the opening diameter (interior measurement)

GOLDEN RULES
Plants: The stated height for any given plant is from the ground up, so will always include the nursery pot.
Plant & Planter Fit: To find a planter for your chosen plant, start with the corresponding size category, e.g. plant size S - go to Small (S) planters.
Example 1: your chosen plant size states M | 60 | 21. This is a Medium size (M) with a height of 60cm and a nursery pot diameter of 21cm.
Go to Planters size category: Medium [21 - 29cm].
You will need a minimum planter opening diameter size of 22cm.
Example 2: your chosen plant has a nursery pot diameter of 29cm. Though this falls within our Medium range (21-29cm), you will need to look at 30cm + planters - taking you into the Large Planters category [30 - 39cm].
