CROTON MRS ICETON
[Codiaeum iceton croton] AKA Joseph's Coat...and you can see why! A very popular Croton variety with Autumnal colours of pink, red, orange and yellow hues. One for more advanced plant owners as she can be a little fussy, but boy is she worth it!
Known as Joseph's coat, this variegated Croton is a stunning, highly ornamental houseplant that will bring fabulous colour, shape and eye-catching style to your space. Loves a good deal of sunlight, humidity and care so possibly not one for beginners. But what it gives back is well worth any effort. A top pick if you have the perfect spot and you're feeling the love.
South India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Western Pacific Islands.
Positioning + Light Needs
Bright natural light please, so a nice sun spot is good but just avoid any direct sun for too long though i can certainly take a few hours a day.
Water modestly but often to keep the soil moist, ideally using tepid filtered or rain water, during Spring / Summer months. You will need to water much less during winter. Never over water so that the plant soil is sodden, this could cause issues with your plant.
Oh yes please! I love high humidity so mist me daily with filtered or rain water, especially in the Winter months when the heating kicks in. If possible, improve the humidity of a room with a humidifier or place the plant on a tray of pebbles and water.
From April - September feed the plant every two weeks with a diluted fertiliser to encourage new growth and healthy looking leaves.
Every 2-3 years or so.
Child / Pet Friendly
Oh no, I'm toxic.
Oh indeed, I'm great at it too.
Look out for
Browning frond tips: Most likely cause here is dry air and lack of humidity or too low a temperature. Increase humidity levels and keep warm.
Leaves losing colour: needs more sunlight! This is the most common issue and should be simple to rectify.
Our size guide applies to both plants and planters.
The diameter range for each is based on the following:
Plants: the total nursery pot diameter (exterior measurement)
Planters: the opening diameter (interior measurement)
Plants: The stated height for any given plant is from the ground up, so will always include the nursery pot.
Plant & Planter Fit: To find a planter for your chosen plant, start with the corresponding size category, e.g. plant size S - go to Small (S) planters.
Example 1: your chosen plant size states M | 60 | 21. This is a Medium size (M) with a height of 60cm and a nursery pot diameter of 21cm.
Go to Planters size category: Medium [21 - 29cm].
You will need a minimum planter opening diameter size of 22cm.
Example 2: your chosen plant has a nursery pot diameter of 29cm. Though this falls within our Medium range (21-29cm), you will need to look at 30cm + planters - taking you into the Large Planters category [30 - 39cm].
